Unboxing the Smart LTE Prepaid Pocket WiFi
We were initially hesitant to buy the Smart LTE Prepaid Pocket WiFi when it first came out because of the Php6,500+ price tag. However when Smart slashed the price and brought it down to just Php4,888 we just had to get one. And that’s exactly what we did earlier this afternoon! We bought a unit from the Smart kiosk in Vmall (3rd Floor), Greenhills, and we just want to share with you guys our unboxing and initial impressions.Unboxing, Packaging, and Initial Review
The Smart LTE Prepaid Pocket WiFi came in a soft printed carton box. The packaging actually looked kinda big especially when you consider how small pocket wifi devices usually are, hehe. Anyway unboxing was straightforward — we removed the slip-on sleeve, peeled off the tape, and popped open the lid. We were initially greeted by the Smart LTE Prepaid SIM card and underneath that was the actual Pocket WiFi unit.
Ooohhh… pretty box
Up front we have the power button and a small LED strip which displays the status and information of the device (battery life, connectivity, etc). The back plate is removable and inside you’ll find the slots for the battery, micro SIM card, and a micro SD card. We have no idea what the micro SD card slot is for though.
Other than the pocket wifi we found the usual stuff inside: USB to micro USB cable, wall charger, and the manuals.
In our first two days of use we can say that the Smart LTE Prepaid Pocket WiFi is a fantastic back-up internet device, especially if you frequent areas with LTE coverage. Battery life is around 5-6 hours and it’s quite easy and intuitive to use. To load it up you’ll have to connect the number with your Smart Online account (just go to Smart’s website and register) so you can use the load you get to buy time bundles for LTE. In terms of speed we got a consistent 8-12 Mbps DL here in Greenhills and we hit around 20 Mbps near Greenbelt. Not bad right?
